I'm so far behind in school.. and the course ends in two weeks. Gah! And yet here I am, on lj.

I just went to give someone some information in a part of the office I haven't been in yet, and there's a guy in one of the cubicles with a giant yoga ball for a chair. XD That is the most awesome thing I've seen all day. And I just mentioned it to the Amsterdam guy and he told me it's in the Office? So I guess some of you guys already knew where this guy got the idea and it's not that awesome. AND THAT IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T WATCH TV. So real life is more awesome.

...

Can you tell it's the end of the day? XD

I am so tired lately, just from working an insane amount. But I love all of my jobs, and I love being busy, and I of course love getting paid so all in all it's good. Plus I still get weekends off (although maybe not for long.. :( My boss wants to make another class on Saturday mornings -_-) so I can recuperate then. It just makes me a little crazy during the week!

I'm terrrrible at updating lately - I'd just rather spend my time reading your guys' entries than writing my own!

Christmas was alright. I spent it with Tony and his family. On Christmas eve we went to his aunt's and then Christmas everyone came over here. It was really nice to get to spend it with them, and they were really welcoming, but it wasn't family or home. But I'll be goign next year, so I just tried to enjoy it best I could.

Still not in an updating mood really, so I leave you with cute raccons I found on [info]splodefromcute.

Also, angora bunny.. hahah I can't stop laughing.

I've been thinking a alot about consumerism and materialism lately, especially this time of year. They're hard ways of life to stop, especially when you live in a rich city. But if you stop and think about it, it's insane the way the world works. Which is why I think we turn a blind eye to it so much.

My Mom posted this video. Neither of use are practicing Christians, but I think it has a really good message.

Ahhh comment notification is now working! After like 4 months of nothing working, I finally switched to my gmail account & notifications are coming through. Thanks to everyone who helped me out by commenting! :) It's kind of a pain in the ass to have to check an entirely different e-mail solely for lj purposes but at least something's working. It makes me not want to be on here when I don't get sent the responses to comments because it's like you can't have a conversation unless it's in your own journal.. or go back and recheck everything you've written to see if anyone has responded. Which is disheartening to say the least.

I have the most annoying virus.. random keys being hit (it changes every time) causes Windows Media Player to pop up. It's really hard to write assignments when you keep getting interrupted every 3 seconds with stupid WMP which I hate. Fortunately for me I have a computer engineer boyfriend. Who thinks I am a moron, but who nonetheless helps me fix it. ♥

I got frost bite on my ear :( Scott walked me to work yesterday morning because he had to get some cigarettes before hibernating to study all day and we were out for the 20 minutes it takes for me to walk to work and I managed to get frost bite. Not too bad, but it was numb, swollen and bright red for about 6 hours, and now it just hurts. Should be alright though. I need to invest in a hat, but for now I find two hoods is holding up pretty well. I look retarded in all hats though... fashion before health! My mom knit me one last year, I should find it before I lose body parts. I hate -40 so much, it hurts my lungs to breath in air when it's that cold. Hopefully a Chinook is on its way.

I am soooo poor this year, it's ridiculous. Stupid overpriced living in the West! Hopefully next year I'll be able to dig myself out a little, but this year I have to wait 'til my Mom sends me money (which is what I asked for as it's really all I need!) to be able to send presents home. My family told me not to get them anything but then went out and got me stuff and... I just can't accept and not reciprocate. I hate materialism. I really want to get out of the habit of overbuying things people don't need for Christmas and birthdays and the like. I know I myself appreciate a burned CD or drawing or something I can actually use much more than an ornament or something else that is nice but just occupies space. I should stop buying books too and just read them from the library. ANYWAY enough of that rant.

Last night I helped Tony's mom decorate the tree and create her little Christmas village. Tony kind of stood around in the background and sulked and was sooky about it the entire time. I enjoyed myself though, as I wouldn't get to decorate anything otherwise. It kind of makes me sad that he feels that way about Christmas though... I absolutely love the decorations and the family togetherness. Speaking of stinky boys... one of the draws between Tony and I is that we both like videogaming, and I guess that as a girl who games I don't nag him for playing a game all day long. However, I'm biting my tongue today. This is because he's started playing World of Warcraft. He apparently played in before we went out and is now playing it again, and I have no idea why but it bothers me a little. It's just like it sucks people in so much... I'm trying to just tell myself I'm stereotyping the game, because last weekend we both played for 8 hours straight on Saturday, and I didn't care... so why should I care for this one? I really don't want to turn into the annoying girlfriend who doesn't let her boyfriend play (since I want to be able to play as much as I want too!). But for example right now, we got called down to dinner an hour ago but we've been waiting for him to come to place where he can stop. Ah well, gave me the chance to update!

NEW VOCABULARY OF THE WEEK: Mickey

So I've slowly been learning the differences between western and eastern slang/vocabulary, mostly through using what I'm used to and having someone say "BWAH?" or vice versa, and have been compiling a list for my Mom's and my amusement as I'm sure not very many other people care. I learned that Mickey is what people here refer to as what I'm used to being a flask. So I'm interested... what do you guys call the alcoholic container smaller than a 26er?

Well that's my update for the month.. haha. Now that I have comment notification and my classes are ending, I will try to be around more!

Damn you Windows Media Player! Damn you to hell! I can't take it anymore! Hopefully the scan is done and I can get rid of that stupid virus!

This is freaking epic. XD

So there's a site out there opposing the video game Spore for conflicting with Christian beliefs.

Antispore.

People flip the freak out in comments, as is expected... for example, in the 'About this Blog' section, the author writes:

I created this blog to find support for and follow my progress in letting Electronic Arts know that their biggest attack on Christian values to date will not be tolerated.

We can not allow the gaming industry to invade our homes and poison the minds of our children.

After all, their billions in revenue and all the advertising in the world are no match for the power of God.

Said people freaking out can be seen in the thousand responses.

So for the past little while, chaos has reigned.

Until today, that is.

Today's entry asks that everyone Understand her beliefs. To help illustrate this, she offers quotes from scriptures.

For the link-wary, this is the end of the post.

But the Bible teaches us that God was not done with man. For we were His creation and He then spoke to Noah in Genesis 8:21-27 after the flood. “21. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never gonna give you up. 22. “Never gonna let you down.” 23.”Never gonna run around and desert you.” 24. “Never gonna make you cry.” 25. “Never gonna say goodbye.” 26. “Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.” 27.”Never truly believe anything you read on the Internet. There will always be cases of Poe’s Law.”

It’s these teachings that I’ve spent my life learning, believing and becoming, that have made me the woman that I am today.

By far the finest piece of rick-rollin' I've ever encountered.

The Controversial Survey

Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Nope.

Are you for or against abortion?
I'm pro-choice. I believe every woman has the right to chose whether or not she carry her baby to term or abort the pregnancy. Personally, at this age, I would not have an abortion.

Would our country (United States) fall with a woman president?
Not from the States, but I don't think either the States nor Canada would 'fall' were a woman elected into head of office.

Do you believe in the death penalty?
No. I don't think our legal system works well enough to be able to dole out a death sentence. I also don't believe anyone has the right to chose when someone else should die. I also think being given a life sentence is worse a punishment than being killed.

Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I don't particularly wish it, but I do support it being legalized.

Do you believe in God?
I go back and forth on that one. I'd like tom because I've seen it give joy and meaning to a lot of people's lives. It's hard to, though.

Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I don't even think it should be a question.

Do you think its wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA?
Haha, no I don't, and I invite more to move here! :P

A twelve year old girl has a baby...should she keep it?
Completely depends on the girl and her support system.

Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18?
It is 18.

Assisted suicide is illegal...do you agree?
No. I completely support Euthanasia. I think we have a ways to go before it can be legalized as there would be a lot of logistics to work out, but I don't think anyone should be forced to live when they don't want to.

Do you believe in spanking your children?
I think some children do need physical discipline, but definitely a spanking to shock and not hurt.

Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
For a million dollars I'd burn any flag.

A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case, do you agree?
I'd really have to see the case. From that little piece of information, I'd say if she were innocent, she'd be spending the majority of the rest of her life in a mental institution of some sort.

Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
I think most people already knew how I feel about this issues.

Cooolloommmbbiiaaa!!!! :D

Actually I'm not sure anymore. Although I AM pretty sure you can't immigrate from your home country.
I think I'd hit up South America though.
If I had all the money in the world, I'd go to Spain.

Edit: The stupidity of the average LJ user astounds me.
(Not to pick on Americans, but those are the ones I saw)
American posts: "Well, if I had to move somewhere else in the States..."

While I realize the person used to wrong word, still you knew what they meant. And you cannot emigrate from your country to another place in your own country.... HOLY GOD. If you don't kwow what a word means (or if you're not sure, even!) look it up.
